Our ideal candidate for the Deployment Readiness Senior Manager role is a mission-driven leader who thrives in complex fast-paced environments and is passionate about supporting those who serve. You bring strong operational leadership and a collaborative mindset to oversee a National Headquarters business unit that delivers critical administrative HR operational and logistical support. You excel at ensuring seamless workforce readiness and support for the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) pre- during- and post-deployment workforce while also providing adaptable support to the International Services Division (ISD) as needed.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:
Provide day-to-day management of a worldwide mobile personnel system to ensure availability of qualified personnel to meet ongoing delivery of Red Cross services. Ensure consistent staffing and logistical support for all active operations and assist with strategic planning for future deployments.
Oversee management of all deployment support functions for Red Cross staff into locations overseas. Maintain recruitment retention training and medical and security requirements for personnel serving on deployments.
Oversee strategic planning program design and implementation for the full lifecycle of Volunteer Support Services for SAF and ISD to include general management tools distribution facilitating technical assistance and overall program support for both departments.
In coordination with corporate HR and SAF/ISD senior leadership support and manage a variety of HR projects to promote a culture of workforce engagement by optimizing and strengthening access to resources for onboarding training and communications throughout both departments.
Supervise a team of exempt employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their work assignments.
Maintain productive internal working relationships with other SAF and ISD divisions; national headquarters support offices such as Red Cross Human Resources; and appropriate external agencies to support Red Cross presence and mission in varying circumstances and locations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelors degree required.
Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Requires strong computer skills.
Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and a no-fee U.S. passport.
Worldwide mobility is a condition of employment and an essential function of this position. Must accept work assignments anywhere in the world including conflict areas where the American Red Cross is providing services to members of the military and their families.
Must meet strict medical and physical requirements including immunizations required by the U.S. military.
May be required to wear military uniforms and live and work in harsh and stressful environments in conflict areas. Periodically accompanies the military on deployments.
Experience in project management and managing multiple functions or activities is required. Strong computer skills are required.
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills the ability to work with multiple priorities and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage performance are essential.
Regular availability outside of traditional office hours including weekends and holidays to meet unpredictable business needs.
Moderate amount of domestic and international business travel anticipated annually (up to 15%).
Must possess strong personal integrity professionalism and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE:
Familiarity with military culture regulations and protocol is strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience in recruitment human resource/workforce planning skill development and training facilitation is preferred.
Volunteer Management preferred
Previous SAF Experience preferred
Knowledge of MEPS preferred
Located near a major airport to effectively travel to sites.
Familiarity with international disaster response and military culture regulations and protocol is preferred.
Knowledge of Red Cross programs policies procedures and systems is preferred.
