Job Summary
Position Description:
Where were you when the first Galileo navigation satellites began operating in orbit or when the European probe Philae landed on a comet We can tell you where we were: right in the middle of it.
CGI supports the planning and execution of national and international space missions with reliable systems innovative solutions and highly skilled experts. Our focus includes among other areas the space ground segment which forms the foundation of every space mission.
In this role you will contribute to software systems that support critical European space missions and enable real-world impact in areas such as navigation Earth observation and space exploration.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
As part of a motivated team you will take on a responsible role in the development and maintenance of software projects in the space domain working closely with our clients. You will apply modern software engineering practices with a focus on sustainable design and high software quality.
Contribute to software projects in the space domain (coding documentation unit testing)
Design and implement software components including writing and maintaining unit tests
Further develop existing modules and resolve defects in existing systems
Communicate with customers regarding features improvements and issue resolution to ensure effective support
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

A degree in computer science physics electrical engineering mathematics or a comparable field or equivalent practical experience
Initial practical experience with programming (e.g. through projects internships or professional work)
Knowledge of C and/or Java; experience with scripting languages is a plus
Basic experience with Linux/Unix ideally including command-line usage
Analytical structured and reliable working style
Strong willingness to learn and interest in complex technical systems
Ability to work effectively in a team
Excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus
