The Middle School Student Success/JAG teacher provides an education that will empowerstudents to succeed in school career and life by blending academic support with workforcereadiness leadership development and mentorship through the JAG program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in education counseling social work or related field (preferred)
- Experience working with middle school students especially at-risk youth
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices
- Excellent communication organization and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently
- Commitment to student success equity and career readiness
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Implements a comprehensive Student Success and Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG)program to support students in overcoming barriers to academic and career success.
- Identifies recruits and supports students who face challenges to school successpromotion and high school readiness.
- Designs delivers evaluates and revises engaging instruction aligned to the JAGcurriculum using project-based learning hands-on activities and collaborative strategies.
- Administers program assessments including pre/post tests and career interest inventoriesto measure student growth and program effectiveness.
- Provides direct instruction in employability skills leadership development and careerexploration.
- Establishes and leads a JAG Career Association to promote student leadershipteamwork civic engagement and community service.
- Supervises and manages a structured Success Room environment to support studentsrequiring academic and/or behavioral intervention.
- Implements behavior intervention strategies restorative practices and de-escalationtechniques to support positive student outcomes.
- Supports students in developing self-regulation accountability and effective decision-making skills.
- Collaborates with teachers and administration to address student academic performanceand behavioral concerns.
- Assists students with completing assignments improving academic performance andstaying on track for graduation.
- Monitors student attendance behavior and academic performance to identify needs andimplement timely interventions.
- Maintains accurate documentation of student progress interventions and programoutcomes.
- Reinforces school-wide expectations and supports positive behavior systems.
- Provides transition planning and follow-up services to ensure student success beyondmiddle school.
- Maintains accurate and timely data entry in the JAG Force system to ensure programcompliance and reporting requirements.
- Builds and maintains positive professional relationships with students families schoolstaff and community stakeholders.
- Connects students and families to appropriate school and community resources asneeded.
- Collaborates with school staff and support teams to align services and improve overallstudent outcomes.
- Participates in school committees staff meetings and ongoing professional developmentopportunities.
- Promotes awareness and understanding of the Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG)program within the school and local community.
- Assists with school-wide initiatives events and activities that support studentengagement and school culture.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to local state and federal policies as well asprogram guidelines.
- Demonstrates continuous professional growth and commitment to student success.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Coordinates with the high school Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG) Specialist toensure continuity of services and a smooth transition for students between middle andhigh school programs.
- Perform school-related duties such as supervision lunch duty or hall monitoring
- Assist with field trips events and student activities
Terms of Employment:
Nine-month contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.
