Job Summary
- Conduct pulmonary function tests and assess evaluations to determine respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments including inhalants mechanical ventilators therapeutic gases and aerosol generators.
- Perform bronchopulmonary drainage assist with breathing exercises and monitor physiological responses (e.g. vital signs arterial blood gases).
- Evaluate patient progress and recommend adjustments to respiratory therapy plans as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning with healthcare team members and contribute to patient care conferences.
- Design and instruct patients families and caregivers on home exercise programs and recommend follow-up care or equipment.
- Document patient care services accurately in patient and department records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment and adhere to infection-control protocols.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment coordinate repairs and perform preventive maintenance.
- Stay current with professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
- Develop and train respiratory therapy staff through in-service training programs.
- Ensure compliance with legal and certification requirements and advise management on necessary actions.
- Support team efforts by assisting with related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; current licensure required.
- Prior experience highly desired.
- Skills in EMR/EHR customer service time management organization attention to detail professionalism and quality focus.
