About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Lead Environment the Lead Environment is responsible for the management and execution of compliance regulatory permitting and internal standards at our Cardinal River mine. This role will also be responsible for embedding continuous improvement by utilizing and adapting best practices and moving those practices forward. There is potential opportunity to also support EVRs other closure property Bullmoose mine.
To be successful we require someone who can multitask stay organized and support multiple scopes within a fast-paced team environment. The successful individual is self-motivated and possesses strong attention to detail problem solving and decision-making abilities. This role involves collaborating with contractors regulators and other stakeholders on various initiatives and programs thus a flexible attitude and strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital for success.
In this role you will have the opportunity to drive and enhance compliance environmental programs and permitting. You will work on an exciting and dynamic team collaborating with site departments and EVR central teams.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Manage and support a team focused on compliance environment program execution and field compliance monitoring including seasonal co-op employees
  • Manage and support all current and new environmental programs activities including but not limited to Fisheries Wildlife Biomonitoring and Surface Water Quality and Quantity monitoring
  • Lead and support regulatory permitting for compliance environmental programs and reclamation projects
  • Management of external consultants and collaboration with internal subject matter experts as required
  • Manage and support environmental management systems (Health Safety Environment and Communities or HSEC) including integration of corporate standards in closure
  • Manage internal and external HSEC audits
  • Manage support and execute on internal and external reporting
  • Continual communication and engagement with site Safety and Operations teams in implementing environmental and compliance programs
  • Identify risks issues or challenges develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Develop annual objectives in conjunction with overarching coal business unit objectives and in alignment with site-specific objectives
  • Develop and manage annual budgets to support the completion of objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned or required

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science Management Engineering or other
  • Minimum five to eight years experience in the field of environmental management and monitoring with preference given to candidates with experience in compliance permitting and HSEC
  • Experience in regulatory management or applications
  • Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental legislation standards and effective industry practices
  • Proficient in geographic information systems with experience in environmental data management analysis and reporting
  • Excellent project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical direction of multiple programs or projects
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a proven capacity in practical problem solving
  • Strong leadership organizational interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work productively with nominal supervision and work independently
  • Multi-tasking competing priorities to see projects to completion while addressing any challenges along the way
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$106000 - $131000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
