The Community Health Coordinator Temp role supports rural and smallmarket health initiatives by conducting targeted needs assessments analyzing and synthesizing data and assisting with lowlift policy systems and environmental (PSE) improvements. The position also provides data cleanup partner reengagement and general project support to advance regional community impact strategies. It is a part-time remote position expected to work 20 to 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct Rural Mini Needs Assessments

  • Perform needs assessments in selected rural areas/counties and small markets (number to be determined).
  • Conduct background research to understand community demographics resources and gaps.
  • Engage in outreachincluding cold callingto schedule and conduct interviews and/or surveys with community stakeholders potential partners and prospective funding recipients.
  • Document potential partner opportunities cold storage and CPR/ AED needs and other community support gaps using structured tools.

2. Customize Tools and Synthesize Findings

  • Tailor assessment tools such as surveys questionnaires and interview guides for various audiences.
  • Compile and synthesize assessment data into clear needs summaries impact narratives and supporting documents.
  • Develop basic project budgets and documentation to inform and strengthen future funding proposals.

3. Support Rural and Small Market PSE Implementation (as feasible)

  • Assist with simple lowerlift policy systems and environmental (PSE) improvements in rural or small market communities.
  • Potential project areas may include CPR policies Community Emergency Response Plans (CERPs) Kit placement Healthy Pantry policies and similar initiatives.
  • Work is contingent on available funding with opportunities expanding if additional or unrestricted resources become available.

4. Outplace: Data Formatting & Clinic ReEngagement

  • Assist department with regional Outpace data refinement and cleanup
  • Compile a list of inactive clinics and help design a small outreach strategy to re-engage them.
  • Support local staff by organizing communication that aligns with existing workflows and minimizes confusion with temporary contacts.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to define project scope based on intern skills and organizational needs.

5. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Provide additional support to Community Impact team projects as needs arise.
  • Assist with special initiatives administrative tasks meeting preparation or data collection activities that contribute to regional rural health strategies.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skillscomfortable speaking with community members partners and stakeholders including through cold outreach.
  • Basic research and datagathering skills including conducting interviews surveys and background research.
  • Ability to synthesize information into clear summaries narratives and basic reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 tools (Word Excel Teams Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong selfstarter with the ability to work independently in a fully remote role.
  • Comfortable managing tasks with minimal supervision and proactively seeking guidance when needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $19.70/hourly to $25.30/hourly. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
