You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop the preliminary structure design of a new generation amphibious firefighter aircraft

  • Investigate the panorama of existing similar aircraft to understand the different technical solutions in order to define the best structural design principles

  • Perform trade offs among different structural solutions applying a Design to Value approach

  • You will create an Airframe Architecture Dossier a document showing the selection of design solutions and their rationale

  • You will focus on the Structural Architecture selecting the best concept for each component

  • You will focus on the airframe and you will define its architectural principles

  • You will minimize cost and weight maximise manufacturability ensuring that the aircraft can be repaired quickly

  • You will develop 3D CATIA models of the Aircraft and preliminary sizing of some relevant components


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student in the area of Aerospace Engineering with focus on Aeronautical Structures (light weight) - up to five years engineering course (end of Master study)

  • Fluent in English is a must German and French is a plus

  • You are able to use CATIA 5 (nice to have)

  • Ability to perform preliminary sizing of loaded structures (nice to have)

  • You have good skills to use OFFICE tools (Word Excel Powerpoint) or Google based Tools (Docs Sheets Slides)

  • You are a team player and a motivated master student to collaborate with
