Base pay rate starts at $25.00 per hour
Shift: Day Shift Full time Monday through Friday
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Driver will be expected to transport deliver and/or unload Thermo-Techs windows and doors to customers in a safe and timely manner to our dealers distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service.
- Reviews load sheet and load for the days deliveries
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the equipment. Reports any issues to Supervisor
- Fuels the vehicle and authorizes fuel bill
- Transports materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Observes all DOT regulations rules of the road and defensive driving techniques
- Locates customers business/residence and confers with client as to where to unload materials
- Safely unloads materials checks quality reviews packing slip with customer and secures customer signature
- Deals with customers in a courteous and professional fashion and accommodates customers requests whenever possible
- Picks up materials from vendors and checks and verifies quality and quantity of materials before receipt
- Returns to plant and unloads vehicle
- Rotates functions with the department as needed and assigned by Supervisor. Works as a contributing member of the department team
- Performs all functions according to sound safety principles company policies and procedures
- Notifies Shipping Supervisor of any existing or potential safety issues
- Report any incidents and accidents promptly
- Completes all necessary paperwork and documentation neatly timely and accurately including drivers logs timecards etc
- Must meet company appearance standards
- Communicates effectively across and within company departments
- Maintains good housekeeping in the department
- Work Environment: 90% Travel and 10% Production
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain a D.O.T. Medical Certificate
- 2 years of previous tractor trailer driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
- Previous hands on delivery experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
- Customer relations skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
- Must be able to load and unload items with and without dollies in various types of weather
- Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time
- Must be able to travel frequently
