Primary Job Function:
AbbVie Oncology Discovery is seeking a talented immunologist/cell biologist to join our Oncology Biologics Discovery team to extend our growing presence in the immune-oncology field with a focus on T cell engagers. The successful candidate will participate in the design and execution of high-quality lab-based studies supporting the discovery and development of new cancer therapeutics. As part of a multidisciplinary research team in a fast-paced discovery environment applicants should have extensive laboratory research experience and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role with a high level of experimental vigor and quality. Because the individual will interact with diverse groups of experts within and outside of his/her scientific discipline strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routinely demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities.
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory research or method development requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.
  • Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  • May initiate new areas of investigation that are scientifically meaningful reliable and can be incorporated directly into a research or development program.
  • A primary author of publications presentations regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
  • Demonstrates high proficiency across a wide range of relevant technologies.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct safety appropriate handling of materials.
  • Direct mentorship of others.
  • Maintain ability to work in a team-oriented manner to optimize achievement of prioritized objectives.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience PhD and no experience necessary.
  • Degree in Cancer Biology Immuno-oncology Immunology Cell/Molecular Biology or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in functional characterization of immune cells with a focus on T cell biology preferred
  • Experience with bioinformatic systems and analysis
  • Record of scientific achievement (i.e. strong publication and/or patent record) and proficiency in standard biochemical cellular and molecular techniques
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative matrix-based team environment and strong written and oral communication skills are essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in cancer biology and immunology with a focus on immune cell redirection platforms
  • Impactful research experience demonstrated by high-quality publications patents and/or presentations at national/international conferences
  • Previous research experience in either an academic or industrial setting

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation holidays sick) medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
