Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Lewisham to assist with the appointment of a Targeted Support Officer on a 5-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 142.85 - 188.16 per day

Summary:

The Targeted Support Officer is a pivotal new role designed to implement the statutory requirements of the Department for Educations Working Together to Improve Attendance guidance. You will lead the delivery of targeted termly support meetings with schools across the borough to identify pupils at risk and develop strategic action plans. The primary goal is to reduce Persistent Absence (PA) and Severe Absence (SA) by providing expert advice driving policy development and using data analysis to ensure every childs right to education is protected.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate targeted termly support meetings with school leaders Local Authority colleagues and external agencies.
  • Guide and support schools in developing robust attendance policies that align with new statutory guidance and best practices.
  • Use data insights to help schools focus resources on vulnerable pupils and specific cohorts requiring additional intervention.
  • Analyse complex attendance data to identify trends persistent absence (PA) and severe absence (SA) across the borough.
  • Monitor the impact of agreed support plans and report on progress toward reducing absence rates within the assigned school cluster.
  • Champion the childs right to education ensuring that support plans are holistic and address the root causes of non-attendance.

Essentials:

  • Significant experience in managing or improving school attendance gained either within a school setting or a Local Authority environment.
  • In-depth understanding of the Working Together to Improve Attendance statutory guidance and its implications for schools and LAs.
  • Strong ability to interpret and analyse attendance data (using systems such as SIMS Bromcom or PowerBI) to inform intervention strategies.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
