Gardener Landscaper

Our client is seeking a reliable and hands-on Gardener / Landscaper for a short-term project based in Kitsilano Vancouver.

This role involves the careful removal preservation and temporary relocation of an existing rooftop garden as part of an active roof renovation project followed by reinstallation once construction is complete.

The position requires someone with practical experience in plant handling and relocation with a strong understanding of how to protect plant health throughout the process.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work and can operate effectively within an active construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Removal & Handling

• Safely remove plants from a rooftop garden without causing damage
• Handle large plants root systems and soil with care and precision

Team Coordination

• Guide and work alongside on-site contractors during plant removal
• Support coordination of tasks to ensure efficient workflow

Site Protection & Safety

• Ensure all work is completed without damaging roofing membranes or surrounding structures
• Follow safety practices appropriate for a rooftop construction environment

Plant Preparation & Relocation

• Prepare plants for relocation using appropriate materials such as pots burlap and soil supports
• Organize and oversee temporary storage of plants

Plant Care & Maintenance

• Maintain plant health and condition throughout the relocation period

Reinstallation Support

• Assist with reinstalling the rooftop garden once construction work is completed

Vendor Coordination

• Coordinate with local nurseries or suppliers when required

Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for someone who combines hands-on landscaping experience with attention to detail and care for plant health.

A strong fit will:

• Have experience in landscaping gardening or plant handling
• Be comfortable handling plant relocation and root systems
• Have the ability to guide or coordinate small on-site teams
• Be comfortable working in a construction and rooftop environment
• Be physically capable of handling plants soil and materials
• Be reliable and available to start immediately

Preferred Experience

• Experience with plant relocation or soft landscaping projects
• Familiarity with plant preservation techniques during transport and storage
• Experience working alongside construction or renovation teams
