Job Summary

Job Title: Assistant Manager Accounting - Sigma Funds

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Level: Contract (Renewable)

Location: Kingston Jamaica (In-Office)

JOB SPECIFICATION

Core Functions:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager in the Accounting and Reporting function of the Company. The incumbent is expected to remain apprised of the companys operations macro-economic variables (changes in interest rates new security issues competitor products financial performance etc.) generally accepted Accounting practices International Accounting Standards and the stated policies and procedures of the company.

Education/Experience:

. Accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent (e.g. ACCA Level 2) or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
Two (2) years experience in Accounting at the supervisory level.
Experience in a Bank Life Insurance Company or Financial institution preferred.

Specialized Skills Techniques/Learned Disciplines:

The incumbent should have a working knowledge of a broad range of disciplines such as:

IFRS Financial Reporting
Basic Financial Analysis
Taxation
Accounting practice in financial services entities

The incumbent should possess excellent organizational and time management skills communication skills flexibility and an ability to manage the variety of tasks assigned. The incumbent will also require a working knowledge of policies and procedures and knowledge of the companys operations.

1. Knowledge of stated policies & procedures

2. Knowledge of the companys products services and operations

3. Knowledge of preparation of routine IFRS compliant financial statements

4. Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and tax law

5. Thorough knowledge of Accounting principles and practices

6. Proficiency with Spreadsheet software (preferably MS Excel)

7. Proficiency with software used by the entity to record financial transactions

Special Conditions Associated With the Job:

Ongoing education/qualification in the field of Accounting or Financial Management
Normal office environment
Frequent work outside of normal business hours and occasionally on weekends
