Position Summary:

NeighborHealth a leading community health center in Massachusetts is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Development (DoD) to lead its individual and major gift fundraising and philanthropic efforts. The DoD will be responsible for designing implementing and overseeing the individual and major gifts development strategy to support NeighborHealths mission of providing accessible high-quality healthcare to underserved communities. This role requires an assertive leader who can partner with other team members to build a culture of philanthropy establish build and strengthen donor relationships.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Grants & Development the Director of Development will partner with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senior Leadership the Board of Directors (the Board) and Development staff (who are direct reports) to create and execute a comprehensive fundraising program for NeighborHealth. The Director of Development will cultivate solicit and engage corporations foundations and individual donors as well as manage fundraising events including the annual signature cocktail reception of Art of Health Care (AOHC).

In addition to securing significant philanthropic investments the DoD will play a critical role in positioning NeighborHealth as a premier nonprofit healthcare organization within the philanthropic community. This includes expanding major gift programs identifying new revenue streams and leveraging corporate and foundation partnerships to maximize impact. The successful candidate will be a proactive results-driven professional with the ability to inspire donors engage stakeholders and cultivate a high-performing development team.

The DoD must be a skilled communicator a team player and committed to networking continuously to build the resources necessary to drive NeighborHealth to the next level. Working closely with the CEO the senior director of development of grants and development the board and the executive management team the DoD will implement strategic priorities to meet the institutions mission and secure its long-term financial security.

The DoD will cultivate solicit and engage corporations foundations and individual donors and manage fundraising events including the annual signature cocktail reception Art of Health Care (AOHC). The major DoD priority must be directed to developing an individual major gifts portfolio. The DoD will spend 60% plus of its time on individual major gifts recruitment and engagement.

The successful candidate will be able to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Develop manage and execute the organizations individual giving program inclusive of developing an annual strategic fundraising plan targeting outreach prospecting for major donors writing appeal letters and partnering with the CEO Senior Director of Grants & Development Senior Leadership and the Board to secure gifts and steward long-term relationships

  • Develop manage and execute the major donor program including strategies for identifying opening doors cultivating soliciting and stewarding major donors

  • Develop staffing plans over time to grow philanthropic results staff increases will be driven by increasing fundraising results which then demonstrate that more staff will drive even better results

  • Work closely with Marketing around collateral public relations/press and social media needs for fundraising and/or friend-raising/cultivation events

  • Use the CEO strategically to advance the individual and institutional major gifts program

  • Cross-collaborate with the Grants and Government Affairs departments to assure alignment with grant submissions and other revenue generating projects and/or partnerships. Assist Grants with any grant or report needs especially those pertaining to grant funding secured via Development-formed relationships. Work with Government Affairs to assure strategically-aligned communications with identified project partners and prospective donors

  • Design supervise and provide support for various fundraising events each year by developing program content soliciting financial support managing logistics and vendor relations and meeting targeted fundraising expectations for each event

  • Work closely with Marketing around collateral public relations/press and social media needs for fundraising and/or friend raising events

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Grants & Development CEO Senior Leadership and Board to expand corporate partnerships ensuring that donors goals are aligned with the organizations needs

  • Supervise and motivate the development team and contractors providing leadership direction praise and constructive feedback

  • Serve as a proactive member of the organizations Managers team helping to ensure alignment between and among organizational and program goals financial realities and fundraising capacity

What Youll Bring

  • Bachelors required; Masters preferred or at least 10 years of experience working in management/leadership roles

  • At least 7 years of experience as a multi-faceted fundraiser for a nonprofit

  • An experienced and creative approach to building engaging and sustaining a comprehensive development program that utilizes diverse strategies well-designed materials and appealing activities

  • Body of experience in major gift fundraising in settings absent of evolved natural fundraising constituency(s)

  • Ability to conduct basic donor research and create approach strategies steward donor relationships and oversee/ensure that donor reports and acknowledgments in a timely and accurate manner

  • Ability to work in partnership with a diverse team to collaboratively achieve fundraising goals

  • A demonstrated commitment to the communities that NeighborHealth serves (predominately lower-income racially and ethnically diverse families and individuals) and a belief that diverse opinions and perspectives produce greater health outcomes for our populations

  • Self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with fundraising databases a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • This position operates in a professional office and clinic environment

  • Regularly required to sit stand walk and use hands to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing administrative and computer-based tasks

  • Occasionally required to lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds (such as files office supplies or small equipment)

  • Must have adequate visual acuity hearing and manual dexterity to perform essential job functions

  • May occasionally move between clinic and administrative areas and be exposed to a typical clinical setting

  • Expected to follow all NeighborHealth and OSHA safety policies and procedures including maintaining a safe and ergonomic work environment

Salary:

This role starts at $111280 and goes up to $174720.00 based on years of experience.
