Position Type: Part-Time (Up to 5 hours per week)
Position Summary
Bethel University Counseling Services seeks a licensed mental health therapist with addictions licensure to provide part-time counseling services for university students. This role supports students experiencing personal developmental psychological and substance-use related concerns. The therapist will provide brief clinical services intake assessments and consultation while collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and Wellness Center staff to support student wellbeing and academic success.
Area Overview
Bethel Universitys Counseling Services (BUCS) provides individual and group therapy for all enrolled university students and maintains strong collaborative relationships with the campus community.
Job Duties
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide clinical intake assessments for students experiencing personal developmental psychological or substance-use related challenges and those seeking personal growth and development.
- Engage students in individual counseling to address personal developmental psychological and addiction-related concerns while supporting academic success and wellness.
- Meet regularly with Wellness Center staff to coordinate care and discuss student needs.
- Provide consultation with the Clinical Director of Counseling Services regarding student care treatment planning and service delivery.
- Consult with university staff faculty students family members and other professionals as appropriate to support student wellbeing.
- Assist with referrals of students to resources on campus (e.g. academic support career services student health) and off campus (e.g. community mental health programs addiction recovery services community clinicians).
- Provide services consistent with professional ethical standards and generally accepted clinical practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate documentation of services and client records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in consultation meetings with the Clinical Director regarding case management addiction-related services and program development.
- Engage in professional development to maintain best practices and meet legal requirements and professional guidelines for practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Counseling Services operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher in clinical or counseling psychology social work or a related mental health field.
- Current mental health license in the State of Indiana (e.g. LMHC LCSW or equivalent).
- Addictions credential or licensure (e.g. LAC LCAC or equivalent).
- Ability to integrate students spiritual needs within treatment in a Christian university setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Strong interpersonal clinical and consultation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with college or university populations.
- Experience providing brief therapy models in a short-term counseling setting.
- Experience addressing substance use and recovery within young adult populations.
