Job Summary

Responsibilities

Staff Supervision & Leadership Development:
RLCs supervise and mentor student leaders who support the residential experience. Responsibilities include:
-Supervising Resident Assistants and other student staff;
-Recruiting selecting training and evaluating student staff members;
-Providing coaching and leadership development for student staff;
-Supporting staff in facilitating community engagement and addressing student concerns;
-Modeling effective leadership and professional conduct

Through ongoing mentorship RLCs empower student leaders to positively impact their communities.

Development & Student Engagement:
Residence Life Coordinators cultivate welcoming residential environments where students feel connected and supported. Responsibilities include:
-Developing communities that encourage student engagement and belonging;
-Advising Area Council the student leadership organization within residential communities;
-Mentoring students in leadership roles and supporting their development as campus leaders;
-Facilitating community conversations that address shared expectations relationships and community standards;
-Promoting participation in residential and campus programs

Through intentional relationship-building RLCs help students develop skills that support both personal growth and community responsibility.

3. Student Support & Advocacy:
Residence life Coordinators serve as accessible resources for residents and play an important role in supporting student well-being and success. Responsibilities include:
-Providing guidance and support to students experiencing academic personal or community challenges;
-Connecting residents with campus resources and support services;
-Serving as advocates for students and helping them navigate the university environment;
-Supporting case management processes and collaborating with campus partners to promote student success

RLCs approach their work with a commitment to inclusivity and an understanding of the diverse identities and experiences that shape student life.

Crisis Response & On-Call Responsibilities:
Residence Life Coordinators serve on-call and as essential personnel in responding to incidents and emergencies within residential communities. Responsibilities include:
-Participating in an on-call rotation providing emergency response for residential communities;
-Responding to crisis situations involving residents;
-Supporting students during challenging situations and connecting them with appropriate resources;
-Ensuring adherence to university and housing policies during incidents;
-Serving as a conduct hearing officer for residential policy cases

RLCs must be prepared to respond to situations requiring sound judgment professionalism and compassion.

& Administrative Responsibilities:
RLCs manage the daily operations of their assigned residential area. Responsibilities include:
-Monitoring community facilities and reporting maintenance concerns;
-Supporting occupancy management processes including room changes and roster verification;
-Managing community programming budgets and departmental purchasing processes;
-Coordinating safety initiatives drills and inspections within residential communities;
-Serving on departmental committees annual events and contributing to divisional initiatives

Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelors degree with at least one year of related experience.

Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:

(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;

(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;

(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;

(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or

(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs or related field.
