Position Summary

The Coordinator of Student Activities and Orientation is responsible for the planning coordinating executing assessing and directs all student related activities and functions to aid students in developing in mind body and spirit for all students to engage in the campus and community.

This position works closely with the Office of Student Success staff and Director of Student Engagement. The Coordinator of Student Activities and Orientation reports to the Director of Student Engagement. This position is an enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education who exhibits Christ-centered servant leadership and a dedication to student success.

This position is a 12-month full-time position that requires a normal eight-hour workday; however as a salaried position; the Coordinator may need to work extended hours to meet the demands of the job.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate special student events such as Concordia Crew Meet Ups Falcon Days New Student Orientation Welcome Back Weekend Commuter Appreciation Week Week of Welcome Falcon Frenzy Winterfest Week Stress-Reliever Week and graduation-related celebrations
  • Support the Concordia Crew Program and Co-supervise the student Crew Leaders: selecting training supporting the student Crew Leaders alongside the Director of Student Engagement
  • Develop organize and implement social programming which uses both on-campus and off-campus facilities
  • Assist in the communication and marketing of new student onboarding
  • Advise the Campus Activities Board which will plan and implement activities
  • Employ a student developmental approach to programming and afford the opportunity for students to attend a wide range of events and activities
  • Facilitate the processes by which student leaders learn necessary competencies for the planning and execution of an activities program together with major individual events
  • Keep statistics on participation in student activities and submit a report of these statistics to the Director of Student Engagement
  • Maintain a schedule of planned activities and coordinate these activities with other Student Success Staff and university personnel
  • All other related activities as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Wisconsin & Ann Arbor
  • A bachelors degree related to education communication lay ministry psychology or relevant field required
  • Experience in social and educational programming and working with college students.
