We are seeking an experienced proactive and organised Facilities Manager to join an outstanding independent secondary school in Wimbledon. This senior role is central to the smooth operation of the school ensuring that all buildings grounds and facilities are maintained to the highest standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the facilities team overseeing site operations and supporting a safe and effective learning environment for staff and students.
Role Overview:
As Facilities Manager you will lead the management and maintenance of the school site ensuring that all facilities are safe functional and well-maintained. You will oversee daily operations manage a team of site staff and liaise with contractors and suppliers to deliver both planned and reactive maintenance. This role requires strong leadership excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the maintenance repair and upkeep of school buildings grounds and facilities.
Manage and supervise the site team including cleaners caretakers and maintenance staff.
Coordinate with contractors and external suppliers for planned maintenance emergency repairs and improvement projects.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations safeguarding requirements and statutory obligations.
Conduct regular site inspections identify issues and implement solutions promptly.
Support school events by ensuring all facilities are prepared safe and operational.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules safety checks and compliance documentation.
Monitor budgets and resources related to facilities management.
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in facilities management site supervision or a similar senior operational role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organisational and planning abilities with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations safeguarding requirements and statutory compliance.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
