Job Summary

The University Hospital Vall dHebron is highly specialized in rare diseases. The scientific direction of the European Reference Network ERN-EuroBloodNet dedicated to Rare Hematological Diseases (RHD) is led by Dr Mar Mañú Pereira head of the Rare Anemia Disorders research lab at the Vall dHebron Research Institute.

In line with the Health data strategy at the European level our team is coordinating several projects on European patients registries for rare hematological diseases: we are collecting patients data from all over Europe to provide enough evidence for shaping European health policies and to enable researchers to access standardized comparable data ultimately aiming at providing better care to patients affected by the context of the upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS) which will regulate the Sharing of health data in Europe these projects are of strategic interest.

In this context we are looking for a responsible European Health Projects Specialist Project Manager to join our Operations Team. The European Health Projects Specialist Project Managers key responsibility will be to ensure a thorough understanding of European project regulations both in terms of technical and financial aspects in order to ensure their correct compliance.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Monitor compliance with EU regulations on technical and financial aspects throughout the project lifecycle

  • Review and validate documentation ensuring consistency with EU guidelines

  • Support the drafting of proposals grant agreements amendments contracts and public tenders in collaboration with other project managers financial managers and legal managers

  • Stay up to date with changes in EU funding rules and guidelines proactively communicating updates to relevant stakeholders

  • Deliver training sessions or guidance materials to internal staff on EU regulations and best practices in project reporting

  • Provide support to ensure timely and accurate reporting of deliverables and milestones

  • Provide support to the preparation and submission of periodic technical and financial reports assisting in data collection consolidation and ensuring compliance with European Commission requirements and deadlines

  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure alignment between financial reporting and technical reporting

  • Ensure that all expenses comply with the eligibility criteria established by EU funding regulations

  • Provide support in conducting project audits

  • Develop internal tools and templates to standardize information gathering and ensure easy access to relevant data

Education and qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelors degree in science (e.g. Biology Bioinformatic Biotechnology Pharmacy)

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desirable:
  • Project Management Certification: PMP PRINCE2 or similar certification is a plus.

  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken)

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • At least 1 year of experience as European Projects Specialist and/or Project Manager or equivalent roles performing the described tasks

  • Proficiency in Excel

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize the work

  • Strong time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:
  • Experience in the management of European Health Projects with special emphasis on Horizon Europe and EU4Health

  • Knowledge of other European national and international funding opportunities (e.g. ISCIII)

  • Previous experience in health/biomedical research environment

Labour conditions:
  • Working hours: Full-time (375 hours per week)

  • Starting date: As soon as possible

  • Gross annual salary: Remuneration will be determined by experience skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.

  • Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities
