Overview:
A Data Modeler creates logical and physical data models that define how data is organized within databases and data platforms. They work closely with business stakeholders analysts and engineers to ensure data is accurate consistent and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
A Data Modeler creates logical and physical data models that define how data is organized within databases and data platforms. They work closely with business stakeholders analysts and engineers to ensure data is accurate consistent and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design conceptual logical and physical data models
- Define entities relationships attributes and data flows
- Translate business requirements into data structures
- Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata
- Collaborate with data engineers DBAs and analysts
- Ensure data quality consistency and governance standards
- Optimize database performance through proper modeling
- Support data warehousing and ETL processes
- Maintain documentation and version control of models
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Strong knowledge of:
- Data modeling techniques (ER modeling dimensional modeling)
- Database systems (Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL Snowflake)
- SQL and query optimization
Familiarity with:
- Data warehousing concepts (star schema snowflake schema)
- ETL/ELT processes
- Big data platforms (Hadoop Spark)
- Experience with modeling tools:
- ERwin ER/Studio PowerDesigner
Analytical Skills
- Ability to understand complex business processes
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
