Position Summary:
The Research Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and implementation of a community-based motorcycle safety program funded through a grant. This position oversees all aspects of program management including communication with stakeholders and community partners planning and coordinating outreach initiatives organizing program activities assessing program performance and performing administrative and project management functions.
The position requires extensive interaction with the public and will involve regular engagement with members of motorcycle communities in the Tampa Bay area. The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of tailored motorcycle safety education and outreach programs aimed at improving safety for both motorcyclists and motorists.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
Be knowledgeable of sociological and behavioral factors influencing the behavior and attitudes of motorcyclists
Develop implement and evaluate community outreach initiatives for motorcycle safety
Provide safety education and related materials to motorcyclists and motorists
Network with community agencies and develop outreach contacts
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with motorcyclist right groups coworkers and public and private agencies
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelors degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and two years of professional experience; or Masters degree in an area of specialization appropriate for the program.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience on state-level traffic safety initiatives addressing both motorcyclists and motorists
- Strong records of public speaking and in-person teaching at training settings
- Local- state- and national-level networks supporting the design implementation and evaluation of motorcycle safety programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills.
- Possession of a valid drivers license with motorcycle endorsement issued by State of Florida
