As a Field Coating Inspector youll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and durability of coating systems applied to gas pipelines and pipeline facilities. Your work in the field will help safeguard asset integrity protect the environment and support the safe delivery of critical energy infrastructure.
Purpose of the role
In this role youll execute onsite inspection and control of coating activities during the construction installation and rehabilitation of pipelines. Youll verify that surface preparation coating application curing and testing are performed in full compliance with approved procedures specifications applicable regulations and contractual requirements.
Core responsibilities
Field inspection & coating control
- Inspect surface preparation activities including cleaning methods anchor profile and roughness.
- Verify proper application of coating systems (liquid epoxies FBE galvanizing or others as specified).
- Monitor and document environmental conditions during application (temperature humidity dew point).
- Perform and/or witness coating tests including:
- Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
- Holiday detection / discontinuity testing
- Adhesion curing and final appearance assessments
- Verify coating repair activities and authorize release upon acceptance.
Regulatory & contractual compliance
- Ensure compliance with project technical specifications approved procedures and contractual requirements.
- Verify application of applicable national and international standards such as:
- Mexican NOM standards and ASEA requirements
- API NACE ISO CSA SSPC (as applicable to the project)
- Identify document and report nonconformances; support corrective and preventive actions.
Documentation & quality records
- Prepare daily inspection reports progress logs and field records.
- Maintain accurate control of:
- Qualified personnel
- Application and inspection equipment
- Coating materials used
- Ensure full traceability of executed works for QA/QC records and audits.
Site coordination
- Coordinate inspection activities with construction supervision contractors and QA/QC teams.
- Support communication between construction fronts and the project management team.
- Participate in site meetings when required.
