Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Digital Architect to support a large-scale digital transformation initiative. This role focuses on designing and delivering scalable user-centric digital services while enabling teams through reusable platform capabilities and modern architecture practices.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Strategy

  • Lead architecture and design of enterprise-scale digital services
  • Develop end-to-end architectural strategies aligned with agile and human-centered design principles
  • Analyze existing systems and define modernization roadmaps
  • Conduct feasibility analysis prototyping and technical discovery
  • Identify risks dependencies and system impacts

Delivery & Implementation

  • Guide teams in delivering scalable high-quality solutions
  • Define integration strategies and system boundaries
  • Promote reuse of shared services and platform components
  • Review and contribute to code and implementation
  • Support iterative and incremental delivery

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and coach cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with product UX and engineering teams
  • Contribute to architectural standards and best practices
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5 years experience as a Software Architect leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions using modern development stacks in complex environments
  • 5 years experience with:
    • Containerization orchestration and Infrastructure-as-Code in cloud or hybrid environments
  • 4 years experience working with teams applying:
    • UX design service design design thinking or human-centered design approaches
  • 5 years proven experience:
    • Defining and communicating solution architecture for large-scale systems
    • Including integrations modernization strategies and cloud-native patterns
  • 4 years experience demonstrating:
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Influence decision-making across teams

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • 5 years experience with Framework
  • 4 years experience in:
    • Secure development practices
    • Identity and access management (RBAC/ABAC)
    • Zero Trust Architecture principles
  • 5 years experience:
    • Designing and managing APIs (RESTful services and integrations)
  • 4 years experience:
    • Implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated testing deployment and observability
  • 6 years experience:
    • Modernizing legacy systems into digital services across multiple releases
  • 2 years experience:
    • Working with Government of Alberta IT/IM policies standards and guidelines
  • 4 years experience:
    • Working with relational and non-relational databases
    • Schema design and performance optimization
  • 3 years experience:
    • Public sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards

Work Environment

  • Primarily remote (must be based in Canada)
  • Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton (advance notice provided)
  • Standard working hours: 08:15 16:30 (Alberta Time)
