Link Institute on Development and Disability within the Department of Pediatrics at OHSU works with patients families clinicians researchers and many other professionals to meet the goal of improving the lives of people with disabilities. We perform research and care to support every patient from premature babies to older adults facing changes in life due to the onset of disabling conditions. Function/Duties of Position
The responsibilities of this position are in support of the mission goals and objectives of OHSU and the Institute on Development and Disabilities Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) inclusive of teaching research and service.
The specific duties of this position include:
Clinical Service (80%):
Provide appropriate evaluations and therapeutic interventions for CDRC and Doernbecher Childrens Hospital clients. Provide individual multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary evaluations in CDRC clinics. Provide diagnostic and descriptive feedback as well as follow-up evaluations as needed. Establish individualized treatment goals including functional outcomes quantitative measures and target dates/outcomes. Therapeutic interventions may include activities of daily living upper extremity function pre-vocational activities perceptual and sensorimotor activities use of assistive technology splinting/positioning adaptive equipment provision school-related tasks and play/leisure. Provide appropriate parent/caregiver education and training. Document all evaluations and interventions in clients medical record in compliance with JCAHO OHSU and third-party payor criteria. Assist with discharge planning community referral and follow-up services as appropriate. Participate in multi-disciplinary patient care rounds or conferences. Supervise patient care delegated to students fellows trainees assistants or aides.
Develop and/or improve patient care programs in his/her specialty area.
Maintain current knowledge of professional practice responsibilities and relevant national and state laws governing practice. Identify & pursue continuing education responsibilitiesapply and share information/skills acquired. Maintain current knowledge of and comply with hospital and departmental policies & procedures as well as union contracts. Assist in departmental quality improvement projects. Participate in departmental meetings and inservice education programs. Communicate with patients families and other healthcare professionals in an efficient and courteous manner. Demonstrate active listening skills and supportive professional behavior at all times. Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical effective and professional mannercomply with OHSUs Code of Conduct and report potential compliance problems per protocol.
Professional/Academic Activities (20%)
The OT in this position participates in other activities appropriate to the discipline of OT and consistent with the mission and goals of CDRC and OHSU School of Medicine. Such activities include but are not limited to consultation and technical assistance to community agencies and providers; serving on agency and university committees; and participation in departmental meetings; occupational therapy presentations within OHSU OT programs in the community and national conferences; participation in scholarly activity.
Required Qualifications
- The Occupational Therapist will hold a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy.
- S/he will have a minimum of 1 year pediatric clinical experience and experience educating and mentoring trainees.
- Must hold current OTR and hold or be eligible for Oregon OT licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference for candidates with experience in scholarship service and teaching.
