Software Development Engineer II, SCOT Forecasting

As a Software Development Engineer on the SCOT Forecasting model engineering team youll use innovative technology to solve complex problems and see the impact of your work first-hand on millions of products and customers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities
Build Scalable Forecasting Systems :
- Design and develop large-scale distributed forecasting systems that process massive datasets to predict demand across Amazons supply chain
- Create solutions to run ML predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed
- Build distributed storage index and query systems that are scalable fault-tolerant low cost and easy to manage/use

Drive Innovation in Forecasting Technology :
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians including ML scientists product managers and operations teams to conceive design and bring innovative forecasting products and services to market
- Design and build technologies that lead fundamental changes in how Amazon approaches demand forecasting and inventory optimization
- Work with new wave ML frameworks and forecasting algorithms to improve prediction accuracy and system performance

Deliver High-Quality Software :
- Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems in the forecasting domain
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software with development cycles measured in weeks not years
- Participate in code reviews establish coding standards and mentor junior engineers on best practices

A day in the life
The challenges youll solve are big and influence millions of customers sellers and products around the world. You might start your day reviewing model performance metrics then collaborate with ML scientists to implement a new forecasting algorithm followed by designing the architecture for a new feature pipeline. Youll manage ambiguity as you balance technical excellence with the fast pace of a team where innovation is constant and impact is measurable.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1 years of designing and developing large-scale multi-tiered multi-threaded embedded or distributed software applications tools systems and services using: C# C Java or Perl experience
- 1 years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
