Covia is looking for a Geologistwho will positively impactour Mexico operation based in ourObispadocorporate office located inMonterrey Nuevo León; as a Geologist you will have the opportunity to carry out exploration processes based on the companys policies and procedures to assure the short and long-term existence of GMPs industrial mineral reserves. To prospect and evaluate new deposits of industrial minerals with a wide economic sense based on the companys policies and procedures for GMPs growth development and diversification.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities/territory:
- To develop the MS Project-supported exploration plan based on the GF-26 policy to establish work areas number of boreholes drilling systems number of samples sampling and analysis methodologies work deadlines and projects costs.
- To recommend and in some cases select equipment and service suppliers such as major equipment drilling supplies topography and sample analysis labs to complement the exploration plan.
- To inform the area of Exploration Management about the boring requirements to be carried out to integrate them in the Annual Drilling Plan (GF26).
- To locate outcrops and favorable geological characteristics to detect mineral deposits.
- To identify and topographically locate lithological units to control the project from the geological and topographical points of view.
- To develop a geological plane to provide information about mining lots demarcation and acquisition of properties and to establish surface geological anomalies.
- To coordinate the opening of access roads and drilling jigs for equipment movement and their installation for the execution of boreholes.
- To check that contractors assigned to the project comply with the safety requirements established by GMP to reduce accident risks in our facilities.
- To assure that contractors comply with whatever is defined in the exploration plan so that the activities can be conducted with quality and within time commitment.
- To analyze drill cores visually to describe and encode boreholes samples.
- To conduct GPS mine mapping to define the topographical and geological plane.
- To develop a database starting from lab analyses results and geological and topographical data for their interpretation in MineSight.
- To generate the three-dimensional geological model of mineral deposits to calculate reserves and future development of mining plans.
- To assess mineral resources and reserves using MineSight to generate the necessary information for the preparation of the Projects Final Report and Reserves Annual Report.
- To prepare the service and equipment requisitions established in the exploration plan to be analyzed and approved by the Exploration Management area.
- To follow up the purchasing process of the project to get assured that it will be provided with the materials equipment and services according to plan.
- To prepare report on drilling expenditures to check projects costs in regard to these services.
- To update monthly the projects progress to keep a closer control and inform the Exploration Management area as well about the progress of the same.
- To inform the Exploration Management area about the assessments and methodologies used to calculate the reserves of the GMPs mineral deposits in order to prepare the annual report on reserves.
- To attend every year the International Meeting on Geology and Mine Planning to present his/her project progress.
- Train the personnel of explorations in the use of MineSight to increase their domain of the tool and can exploiting more efficiently.
The successful incumbent will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Geological Engineeror similar.(Title required)
- 5 years of experiencein Geology Exploration and MineSight.
