Job Summary

The Field Technician III - Pumps & Electrical Maintenance will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the assigned water and/or wastewater is a role that will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time within budget and in accordance with the project scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills problem-solving abilities with proven hands-on experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision performs general maintenance and repairs of the assigned utility systems
  • Operation of vehicles and equipment to include power tools pumps mowers weed trimmers chainsaws etc.
  • Review service orders to determine locations where services need to be performed
  • Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal State and local rules and regulations
  • Inspect pumps electrical and utility systems meters and connections to determine defects faults and damages
  • Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines
  • Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to immediate supervisor
  • Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
  • Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly and kept updated
  • Locate underground utility lines
  • Work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety policies
  • Wear steel toe protective footwear and other personal protection equipment during regular work hours
  • Performs other related duties as directed



Qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
  • At least 2-3 years of experience with servicing utility systems
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Ability to understand water systems and concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform sustained physical labor including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
  • Neat and clean in appearance courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
  • Must be available to work overtime and on-call as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor environments including extreme weather conditions (heat cold rain snow).
  • Regularly required to stand walk bend kneel crouch climb and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted; occasionally required to lift heavier objects with assistance or mechanical aids.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights including ladders scaffolding or into vaults manholes and tanks.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools operate valves and use instrumentation or control devices.
  • Visual and auditory ability to detect identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions or leaks in piping and system components.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection safety harnesses gloves and protective clothing.
  • Able to safely enter and work in hazardous environments including those with strong odors loud noise and potential chemical exposure.
  • Must maintain physical readiness to respond quickly to emergency repairs or system failures including after-hours or on-call assignments.
