JOB TITLE:

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide psychiatric and mental health services to patients at the Albany Community Health Clinic located in Laramie WY.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessment and management of health and illness states. To do this the clinician obtains and documents a relevant health history performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and diagnoses psychiatric disorders. The clinician then develops a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on biopsychosocial theories evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines. Psychotropic and related medications are prescribed based on clinical indicators of a patients status including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status.
  • Coordinate referrals and ongoing access to primary and other health care services for patients.
  • Provide consultation to and seek consultation from other health care clinicians to enhance quality and cost effective services for patients.
  • Maintain patients electronic medical record and accurately document each patient encounter.
  • May host students from the University of Wyoming School of Nursing.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in medical staff meetings and roundtable presentations; maintenance and promotion of AAAHC accreditation standards; guidance to SHS support staff; guest lectures as need arises.

WORK LOCATION:

This position provides vital support to clinic patients and requires the successful candidate be available to work on site at the Albany Community Health Clinic located in Laramie WY.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Masters degree in Nursing
  • Experience: 1-3 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Licensures Certifications Registrations or Other Requirements:
    • ANCC Certification
    • RN with APRN Recognition
    • State of Wyoming Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner License without restriction
    • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification
    • DEA Registration
    • WY Controlled Substance Reg
    • Valid CPR certification (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 Years Practice Experience
  • FQHC Experience
  • Healthcare Student Teaching Experience
  • Primary Care-Behavior Health Integration Experience
  • PCMH Experience

WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship for H-1B work authorization or work visa is not available for this position.
