Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans designspreparesinterior design construction documents relating to additionsalterationsand performance of existing materials and provides direction for the interior design standards for finishes and furniture. Performs design efforts under the supervision of theDirectorDesign & Construction. This sequence of job titles is structured to reflect an employees increasing technical capabilities in the field of Interior Design.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Accountability 1Cost Management:

Develops design and construction documents based on construction feasibility estimated cost code requirements and design program requirements within allottedmanhoursandschedule.

Accountability 2Problem Complexity:

Distinguishesproject requirements from client desires.

Obtains field measurementsdocumentssite conditions etc. as required to develop project scope and design concepts.

Considers andanalyzesalternative scopes and concepts.

The Interior Designer II shall provide insight concerning technical issues to theDirectorDesign & Construction.

The Interior Designer II shall perceive client needs and develop solutions with limited information at a conceptual level of design.

Accountability 3Autonomy and Responsibility:

Provides interior design technical oversight as requested by theDirectorDesign & Construction.

Oversees special individual projectsoflimited scope at direction of the Director Design & Construction.

Collaborates with other designers planners and/or Project Managersin project scope review and project requirements discussion with clients.

Interprets andestablishesrequirementsofwork to be done.

Coordinates efforts of consultants and/or vendors.

Reviews the work of and directs team consultants asrequiredto support team effort.

Effectively communicates (written & orally) with supervisor and departmental/JHACHstaff.

  • Understands and assimilates JHACHand departmental policiesproceduresand systems.

Recommends andparticipatesin departmental design development (design standards standard specifications) improvement and implementation for interior finishesfurnitureand artwork.

Specific to the Interior Designer II and Senior Interior Designer:

  • Leads design effort of project team on increasingly difficult major renovation/reconstruction projects under the direction of the Director Design & Construction.
  • Proposes projects or program changes based upon observation and assessment of existing conditions and situations in the facility.
  • Prepares specifications on productsinstallationand general workmanship on projects.
  • Coordinates post occupancy evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education

Bachelors degree in Interior Design or Architectureis preferred for all jobtitles butmay be waivedin accordance withthe job experience requirements.

Interior Designer I:

Interior DesignerII:

Eligible to be examined for registration as a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in the State of FL.

Professional Interior Designer:

Eligible to be examined for registration as a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in the State of FL

  • Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of construction methods and equipment installation/inspection.

Foundation and current knowledge of design construction operations and maintenance fields and governmental regulations and codes as applicable to employees discipline and to an extent that the employee can effectivelyintegrate related construction operations and maintenance disciplines into a design or interpretation of governmental regulations and codes.

Proficient with computer applications (PC- and network-based) including Windows departmental e-mail word processing database spreadsheet project managementpresentationand CADD packages.

High levelof ability to solve problems and manage informationindicatedherein.

Ability to use equipmentindicatedherein.

Proficient written and verbal English communication skills on a college graduate level.

Ability to plan research analyze coordinateimplementand present project requirements.

Ability to generate clear design direction and convey the same to other designers and design professionals.

Interacts professionally with JHACH/departmental staff as well ascontractors manufacturersvendorsand consultants.

Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
