Our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has 10 beds and provides advanced specialized support for newborns who need additional monitoring or intermediatelevel care allowing families to remain together within the same unit. Together these features reflect our commitment to safety compassion and highquality maternal and newborn care.
JOB SUMMARYThis position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. NICU Nurse is specifically responsible for the care of the well and ill newborn who may require neonatal intensive care services. Birth Center and Pediatrics are considered sister units and staff float are expected to float between these units.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Previous experience in well or ill newborn and / or obstetric care and / or acute care preferred.
Special Skills and Competencies:
1. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
2. Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
3. Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
