About the unit
9 Childrens is a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology floor with 24 private rooms at Helen DeVos Childrens addition this floor cares for Blood and Marrow Transplant as well as surgical overflow patients. Team members are drawn to 9 Childrens for the opportunity to get to know patients and families that are often in the hospital for long periods of time and return frequently due to their treatment regimens. Although we are an acute care unit we are very specialized and care for patients that are higher acuity than most units. We pride ourselves on our teamwork and ability to make a difference for families in crisis.

Scope of work
Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological psychological sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals checking blood sugars bed bathing ambulating wound care catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
Qualifications
Hight School Diploma or equivalent Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 day
