Training Management Group (TMG) is the People & Training sub-directorate responsible for the management Individual Training across the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. TMG is also responsible for the effective running of the Selborne Contract under which Team Fisher deliver most courses. TMG is led by a 1* and made up of regular and reserve RN RM and Civil Service personnel. We work alongside our Team Fisher colleagues (mainly Capita and Raytheon) on the same floor plate in West Battery at HMS EXCELLENT. The shared vision is Better trained warfighters to the frontline faster which requires high levels of collaboration. |
Job Purpose
You will join a dynamic group of Analysts employed by TMG in the Training Governance Assurance and Analytics (TGAAA) team. TGAA is made up of regular and reserve RN and RM personnel all of whom bring valuable service experience. The team is managed by an RN SO3. Each Analyst focuses on a specific Profession but can be called to work in any area as required. This team predominately conducts External Validation (ExVal) projects but also conducts wider evaluation activity as required. Analysts also handle the daily flow of unsolicited feedback submitted to the Training Feedback App (TFA) on SCIO. All activity is supported by robust SOPs which are continuously optimised as the approach evolves to keep pace with the demands of modern training and changing operational context. This is underpinned by the Royal Navys Individual Training Evaluation Strategy (EStrat) which is owned by TGAA. By working collaboratively with stakeholders particularly the Training Requirement Authority (TRA) and Team Fisher TGAA acts as a key intermediary to drive rapid continuous improvement of our training to support the Royal Navy to Lead Fight and Win.
General Tasks
- Evaluate Individual Training with the core question being the degree to which training prepares individuals for the specified role. This typically involves conducting ExVal projects on a course set of courses or a whole pipeline.
- Cohere various data sources to triangulate your findings (such as InVal Team Fisher KPI data TFA submissions surveys and focus groups).
- Generate and track intelligent recommendations for stakeholders to remedy issues you identify with the aim of enhancing training effectiveness.
- Maintain effective information management and data integrity iaw local SOPs.
- Develop and maintain your stakeholder network including attending stakeholder meetings as required.

Authority

- To deliver against these responsibilities the role holder is authorised to liaise directly with any service person department/establishment contractor or external agency as required.
- There is no line management responsibility associated with this role.

Knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of JSP 822 Defence Direction and Guidance for Training and Education and BRd 3 Naval Personnel Management (essential).
- Experience of developing and maintaining constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (desirable).
- Experience of managing and conducting projects or investigations in a Defence environment (desirable).
- Experience of training and/or education delivery and assurance in a RN or professional environment. (desirable).
- Knowledge of good practice theories tools and methodologies relating to effective training provision in a military context (desirable).
