Job Details:

The College of Health Professions at Mercer University invites applications for a full-time Faculty member and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Program Director in the Department of Public Health.


Responsibilities:

This leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction administration and continuous improvement of the DrPH program with an emphasis on social epidemiology and health equity while contributing to teaching scholarship and service within the department. The DrPH Program Director will lead a forward-thinking program designed to prepare public health leaders to address structural determinants of health advance health equity and translate research into practice. This is a full-time 12-month non-tenure track position.


The Department of Public Health is part of a progressive and innovative College that emphasizes evidence-based and integrative approaches to health as well as interprofessional collaboration with programs including Physical Therapy Physician Assistant Studies Clinical Psychology Athletic Training Kinesiology and Occupational Therapy.

Primary Duties

Program Leadership & Administration:

  • Provide leadership vision and strategic direction for the DrPH program

  • Oversee curriculum development implementation and evaluation to ensure academic quality and relevance

  • Ensure program alignment with accreditation standards (e.g. CEPH) and lead accreditation-related activities

  • Manage program assessment student learning outcomes and accreditation reporting

  • Collaborate with department leadership on program growth recruitment and retention strategies

Teaching & Mentorship:

  • Teach graduate-level courses in the DrPH and MPH programs

  • Advise and mentor doctoral students including dissertation supervision

  • Foster student professional development and leadership in public health practice

Scholarship & Service:

  • Maintain an active program of scholarship including publications presentations and pursuit of extramural funding

  • Participate in departmental college and university service

  • Engage with professional organizations and community partners to enhance program visibility and impact

Collaboration & Engagement:

  • Promote interprofessional education and collaborative initiatives across the College

  • Build and sustain partnerships with public health agencies community organizations and stakeholders to support practice-based training

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (DrPH or PhD) in Epidemiology from a CEPH-accredited program/school

  • Demonstrated experience in public health practice and/or applied research

  • Prior teaching experience at the graduate level and doctoral mentorship

  • Record of peer-reviewed scholarly activity

  • Experience with academic program leadership curriculum development or academic administration strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of CEPH accreditation standards and processes

  • Evidence of leadership collaboration and commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence
