  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Huron Valley Schools is seeking an effective and positive Social is a temporary Social Worker position for the 2025â2026 school year only and does not extend beyond that term. Must be in alignment with best practices and highly organized with providing services. This individual will need to be collaborative in working with a broad range of service providers students and staff.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Masters degree in Social Work perferred. Must hold valid Michigan certification for Social Work
    • Must hold a Full School MDE Certification.
    • Experience with school-aged individuals experience with social and/or school counseling
    • Evidence of working collaboratively and has established and maintained trusting effective relationships with staff students and families.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills Highly organized and effective with supporting students in varied platforms

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Identify those in need of additional support
    • Experience using PBIS a framework
    • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students staff and families
    • Advocate for and develop plans to improve students wellbeing
    • Respond to students in crisis situations
    • Interview and counsel students and their families individually or in groups assessing their situations capabilities and needs as they pertain to the educational development of the students
    • Engage families in examining how the school and home can effectively work together to improve the overall educational success of the student
    • Utilize assessments to further support students social-emotional well-being
    • Maintain confidentiality of student staff and family information
    • Provide support to students and families relative to students educational progress community advocacy and referrals
    • Participate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and to engage methodology where necessary
    • Participate and provide input in building and department meetings

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Masters Degree preferred.

    LANGUAGE MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS:Ability to speak and write to apply mathematical concepts to practical to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
