SUMMARY:
Hudson Public Schools has a number of ABA Therapist openings in preschool and K-4 grade levels across Mulready Elementary School in the CHild Development Program.
This position is accountable for providing assistance based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to the classroom teacher or other certified personnel in the delivery of quality education recreation classroom organization and maintenance record keeping and school-community relations by means of maturity sound reasoning and conferences with assigned teacher and/or other certified personnel with rules and regulations of the Hudson Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to the position.
- Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher by reviewing correcting and reinforcing lessons with individual and small groups of students reading stories aloud assisting in math concepts reinforcing recognition of the letters of the alphabet and other activities associated with the curriculum.
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation and inventory of instructional materials and the setting-up operating and maintenance of various learning aids and equipment.
- Responsible for assisting in the wash-up and lavatory routines assisting in the supervision of breakfast and/or lunch periods.
- Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in clerical work which may include but not limited to recording daily attendance cataloging and filing instructional materials.
- Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher during the work day in fostering greater understanding within the school-community by means of open communications with school personnel and students.
- Responsible for contributing to a warm and open atmosphere so that all students will have the opportunity to grow and develop to their fullest potential.
- Responsible for performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
- Responsible for supporting and teaching students with moderate to severe special needs including significant behavioral challenges academic challenges and deficits in activities of daily living.
- Responsible for reading and implementing a Behavior Support Plan of all the students developed by the teacher and in collaboration with the classroom teacher. This includes collecting daily behavior data to be reported on progress reports and used to develop IEPs.
- Responsible for the implementation of ABA techniques including but not limited to discrete trials adaptive skills (e.g. toileting feeding arrival and dismissal routines) task analysis natural environment teaching and social skills training. This also includes following appropriate prompt hierarchies such as verbal and physical hierarchies.
- Willingness tomaintain on-going certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) which includes physical capabilities to assist with protective holds and student escorts.
- Performs any other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Building Administrator or designee may from time to time assign and delegate
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate degree or 48 undergraduate college credits
- Preferably experience with working with students with autism spectrum disorders and/or applied behavior analysis
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints
WORK YEAR:
- $500 sign on bonus (after 90 days)
- 10 months. 183 work days 3 personal days 12 sick days prorated pursuant to date of hire
This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay
Benefit Eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.

While performing duties of this job the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building.
