Job Summary

SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is hiring an Assistant Tank Manager for the 2026 Bristol Bay salmon season running approximately mid-June through mid-August. This role is based on a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham Alaska. The Assistant Tank Manager supports tank and pumping operations and related administrative work with duties split between the pump room and the Tank Managers office. Responsibilities are outlined below.

This position may offer the opportunity to transition into full-time year-round employment in Bellingham WA from August through May based on performance and business needs.

Important Travel Note: As of May 7 2025 a REAL IDcompliant form of identification is required for domestic air travel including flights to Alaska. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement prior to hire.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate with the shore office for vessel scheduling
  • Coordinate closely with the deck crew to ensure rapid and effective offloading of fish
  • Communicate with production to maintain continuous and efficient operations
  • Coordinate with Engineering on repairs and ship operations
  • Coordinate with the Quality Control (QC) department
  • Oversee fish temperature control and maintain the highest quality standards while fish are held in the tanks
  • Creation management editing and tracking of fish lot codes accurately
  • Plan and manage regular tank sanitation schedules
  • Supervise daily tank operations including final walk-throughs
  • Maintain accurate logs reports and operational records
  • Perform troubleshooting as required
  • Other Duties
    • Ballast water management and logging
    • Monitor the septic system and respond to emergency repairs as needed
    • Repairing leaking broken pipes
    • Assisting with additional projects and tasks as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years old
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to routinely work 12 hour shifts and occasionally 16 hour shifts during peak season
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces including confined-space rescue environments
  • Years of experience: 2 years (maintenance experience or machine operation)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Software/Systems Knowledge
    • Strong working knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems
    • Knowledge of VFDs
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft excel word google docs etc.
    • Effective interpersonal communication skills
    • Effective written communication (email)
    • Proficient with UHF radio communication
  • Other relevant skills
    • Strong mechanical background with hands-on trouble shooting skills
    • Strong PVC repair and construction skills (plumbing experience a plus)
    • Comfortable working in confined spaces including confined-space rescue environments
    • Small team management
    • Ability to work well with other department heads

This role is based primarily aboard a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham Alaska in Bristol Bay Alaska with the potential for year-round employment during reprocessing operations in Bellingham Bellingham work may also be performed dockside and on the waterfront in an active marine industrial environment. Work takes place in wet cold and physically demanding marine environments. The position requires regular use of hand tools (wrenches screwdrivers prybars etc.) and power tools (angle grinders power drills portable bandsaws etc.). Employees must be able to safely navigate slippery and uneven surfaces work extended shifts of 1216 hours including nights lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance work in small confined spaces climb stairs and ladders and be able to swim.
