Short Description
The Trauma Registrar Certified will be responsible for routine abstraction and validation of all data entered in the Trauma Registry at the Cooper Health System. Assists with preparation/presentation of research projects for the Division of Trauma at The Cooper Health System. Assists Performance Improvement efforts at the Cooper Health System facilitating an interface between the Trauma registry and the Performance Improvement program of the Trauma Department.
Experience Required
- 2 years in hospital setting
- ICD-10 and CPT coding and ISS scoring experience required
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program with critical care background OR a HS graduate with clerical experience that includes medical records training.
License/Certification Requirements
- Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR)or
- Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS)
Special Requirements
- Must attend or have previously attended two courses within 12 months of being hired: (1) the American Trauma Societys Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program and (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automative Medicines Injury Scaling Course. The certifying examination is available through the sponsorship of the American Trauma Societys Registrar Certification Board leading to the designation of certified specialist in trauma registries (CSTR).
- Familiarity with ICD-10 CPT coding and ISS scoring.
- Computer knowledge.
