Job Summary for RN - Neonatal ICU (NICU)

- Facility:
- 174 licensed beds
- Not a trauma designated facility
- Teaching facility for Community Schools of Nursing
- TJC Stroke accredited
- Part of Lee Garvey Chest Pain Network
- Traveler must live 50 miles from facility

- Unit Details:
- 7-bed Neonatal ICU
- Accepts first-time travelers
- At least 1 year of NICU RN experience required

- Patient Population:
- Neonates 32 weeks gestation and older
- Primarily grower and feeder babies
- Some requiring bubble CPAP
- Transfers out higher acuity patients

- Staffing Ratios:
- RN: 1:2 occasionally 1:3

- Certifications Required:
- RN license
- BLS
- NRP

- Skills Required:
- Strong NRP skills
- Experience stabilizing neonates
- High-risk delivery attendance not required for travelers

- Department Support:
- CNA
- Receptionist/HUC
- Charge nurse
- Case Manager
- Respiratory Therapist 24/7
- Hospitalist 24/7
- Neonatologist available 24/7 (not always in-house)
- Lactation Consultants
- Remote Tele Monitoring and Telemedicine

- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips

- Floating:
- Not required for travelers
- Optional if experienced in other units

- Orientation:
- NEO at Airport Center
- 2 departmental precepted shifts

- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
- 6-week schedule cycles
- Weekend and holiday rotation dependent on unit needs
- No on-call for travelers
- Up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays); RTO must be added to end of contract if needed

- Other:
- Surgical scrubs provided
- Free parking
