Social Support Worker (fixed-term part-time)About us:Centre 105 a community ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa located in Trinity Anglican Church Cornwall provides essential services to our community including a hearty breakfast ongoing coffee service social and recreational activities and referrals to other service partners and agencies. We are open four mornings a week: Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Position Summary:The Social Support Worker will report directly to the Executive Director of Centre 105. This role involves front-line support to our participants assisting with daily operations and helping organize social and other programming. The Social Support Worker ensures the well-being of participants provides advocacy and referrals and supports the mission and values of our community Responsibilities:Participant Interaction: Engage with vulnerable individuals accessing Centre 105 for meals and social Presence: Be present during open hours to interact with participants assess their needs and provide Service Assistance: Assist with breakfast service including meal preparation distribution and Development: Help develop and implement social activities and programs that meet the needs and interests of Services: Provide information and referrals to other service agencies and partners in Monitoring: Oversee the use of the washroom and adjacent hallways to ensure safety and and Atmosphere: Work with other staff to maintain a safe welcoming and non-discriminatory environment. Respond quickly and appropriately to any safety Adherence: Follow Diocesan policies on sexual misconduct workplace harassment and discrimination while respecting professional boundaries and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to support the overall mission of Centre :Post-secondary education in social sciences social work or equivalent experience and working with high-risk populations including those experiencing homelessness mental health and addiction in overdose response and knowledge of harm reduction practices is an asset.A client-centered and non-judgmental interpersonal and communication to maintain professionalism in stressful working with diverse populations and marginalized in Safe Food Handling First Aid CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is preferred.A current and valid vulnerable sector police check is Details:Working Hours: 28 hours per week Tuesday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30pmPay rate: $23/hourSubmitting your application:Dont just apply for a job apply for a cause!
