Job Summary
Director Budget
Springfield VA
The budget director is responsible for overseeing the planning development and execution of the companys annual operating and capital budgets. They ensure that financial resources are aligned with strategic goals while maintaining fiscal control and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Budget Development: Lead the annual quarterly and monthly budgeting processes including the formulation of operating and capital budgets.
- Financial Forecasting: Conduct complex financial analysis and modeling to estimate future revenue and expenditure needs.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze actual performance against budgeted targets identifying and reporting on causes for budget variances.
- Policy & Procedure: Develop and implement budgetary policies guidelines and internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
- Team Leadership: Supervise train and evaluate staff including budget analysts and managers.
- Strategic Advising: Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and boards presenting budget data to support decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with department heads to review budget requests and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Skills:
- Proficiency in using advanced data analysis tools and software (e.g. Pivot Tables VLOOKUPs ERP Systems).
- Ability to explain complex technical financial information in a clear non-technical format to diverse audiences.
- Capability to align financial planning with long-term organizational vision and goals.
- Precision in reviewing budget estimates and financial reports for accuracy and conformance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or Public Administration.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting or finance including significant managerial experience.
