Salary: 49519 - 61899 doe.

The Opportunity

As a Quality Engineer within Articulated Trucks you will perform a critical function in the continuous efforts to drive down defects and improve product and process quality within the operational areas of the business. This will include ensuring robust process controls as defined within the CQMS are in place to minimise process variation and drive consistency. A key part of this is working with the area management manufacturing engineering supplier quality and process partners to ensure a proactive quality culture is instilled.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Collect/analyse quality data and investigate non-conformances to determine permanent resolution

  • Execute global quality processes as defined in the Caterpillar QMS

  • Provide both reactive and proactive support to value streams within a quality function.

  • Provide support for the validation and development of NPI proucts through value streams prior to and post launch.

  • Support the value stream in achieving its agreed quality objectives administer metrics and provide guidance on improving performance

  • Identify analyse and resolve product and process non-conformances

  • Lead/support long-term/complex investigations as required using proven problem-solving techniques.

  • Provide feedback and reports on quality related issues to supervision/management.

  • Ensure process controls including documentation are updated communicated and trained out as required.

  • Local process owner for Caterpillar customer acceptance validation (CAV) elements

  • Support quality investigations by carrying out specialist testing and validation.

  • Support second- and third-party audits on-site.

  • Support investigations initiated from field issues and liaise with key stakeholders

Degree Requirement
Apprenticeship or equivalent within an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Skills experience & qualifications you will have:

  • Knowledge of paint and paint related systems

  • Knowledge of various quality engineering manufacturing and/or maintenance standards and practices.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering drawings and standards.

  • Sound knowledge of CPS/Lean principles

  • Previous experience in quality investigations and determining root cause and corrective actions to engineering related issues.

  • Experience in auditing manufacturing processes and their associated systems.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgements.

Flexibility and Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan organize monitor and control projects ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Quality Management System (QMS): Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) functions features and capabilities; ability to design implement test and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliance.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Continuous Process Improvement and or New Product Introduction knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of assembly processes would be beneficial

  • 6 sigma/DMAIC or quality improvement project experience.

  • Experience of auditing processes against standards.
