Finance Managers have responsibility for DG finance teams within Financial Management and Reporting leading them to deliver professional advice on financial issues and through budget monitoring and monthly financial reports which enable senior officials to make informed decisions based ontimelyand high-quality financial information. Communication and effective stakeholder relationships are an essential aspect of the role with Finance Teams the link between business areas and the wider Corporate Reporting Division.

Financial Management and Reporting is part of the Corporate Finance Division withinFinancial Management Directoratesupports Ministers and senior officials across the public sector make sound decisions about the allocation and management of doing so we deliver a range offinancial management compliance and strategic roles tohelpthe organisation manage and governaround50billionof public spending.

The post-holder will report to aC1 Senior Finance Manager and can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The successful candidate must be a fully CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant (or equivalent) with up-to-date CPD.

  • Lead the budget monitoring output of your finance team reinforcing the level of standardrequiredidentifyingimprovements and supporting training needs.
  • Support the continuous improvement of financial reports ensuring they are of a high quality that uses compelling and persuasive language to influence and challenge areas and toassistbudget-holders to make informed decisions.
  • Build andmaintainstrong working relationships with colleagues across the Financial Management Directorate in business areas and bodies to work effectively together to deliver corporate financial exercises andprovideprofessional advice on a range of finance topics.
  • Support your Finance Team leading by example to develop and coach them to ensure effective and efficient working with delegation asappropriate with the aim of developing an effective and high performing team.
  • Lead your Teams contributions to the annual accounts and Provisional and Final Outturn undertaking quality assurance of inputin accordance withthe corporate timetable.
  • Support change arising from the implementation of Oracle Cloud ensuring that sound budget monitoring principles and enhanced financial reporting are taken forward. .
