He aha te tūranga - About the role:
We are on the lookout for a First Aid Kaiako to support the delivery of high-quality Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) and First Aid education to a range of learners and communities within Te Tai Tokerau - Northland.
The Kaiako will:
- Deliver PHEC and First Aid training in a way that is engaging safe and aligned with St John standards
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of different learner groups
- Travel as required to deliver courses in different locations (some flexibility in schedule is needed)
The person were seeking will be a fluent in te reo Māori and will be able to build strong relationships create culturally safe learning spaces and integrate Māori perspectives into how they teach.
This is a casual role working as and when required. Flexibility on your availability will be beneficial.
Qualifications :
Ko wai koe - About you:
We are looking for someone who can:
- Communicate fluently in te reo Māori within a learning environment including delivering explanations instructions and engaging in natural interaction with learners
- Integrate te reo Māori throughout teaching delivery
- Demonstrate strong understanding and correct application of tikanga including how sessions are opened facilitated and closed (e.g. karakia mihimihi manaakitanga whanaungatanga)
- Create a culturally safe inclusive and mana-enhancing learning environment for learners
- Work in partnership with Māori communities kaimahi and stakeholders in a way that respects local kawa and iwi/hapū relationships
- Reflect kaupapa Māori principles in their teaching approach ensuring delivery aligns with Māori ways of learning and being
Ideally you will have experience as a tutor trainer facilitator or educator as well as experience within Pre-Hospital Emergency Care First Aid or a related field however none of this is not mandatory.
