Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently handling storing and distributing materials and products within the warehouse. This role involves operating equipment maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Manage and oversee the receipt of incoming stock from suppliers ensuring accurate accounting and proper placement in designated areas.
- Maintain detailed records of received merchandise and items distributed or stored for future use.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on daily activities utilizing strong mathematical skills and proficiency in computer systems.
- Ensure continuous flow of materials to production lines anticipating needs and preventing shortages.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisors and Team Leaders via radio maintaining a professional demeanor while requesting products for production lines.
- Operate standup forklifts safely and efficiently to transport materials within the facility.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels and identify discrepancies.
- Implement and follow proper safety procedures when handling materials and operating equipment.
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize material flow and minimize downtime.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
- Participate in cycle counts and annual inventory audits as required.
- Identify and report any damaged or defective materials to appropriate personnel.
- Stay updated on inventory management best practices and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications :
- Must have experience driving a standup forklift.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Relevant experience within the last 5 years.
- Valid forklift certification required.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to be self-motivated and work with little supervision. Able to stay focused and complete assigned tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Basic math skills for inventory calculations and reporting.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
