The Imaging Assistant will support the patient and procedural workflow in the Diagnostic Imaging department throughout the day. You will participate in direct and indirect patient care related activities by assisting technical and nursing staff. The Imaging Assistant has MDR certification and is responsible for the high-level disinfection of ultrasound transducers and storage in clean supply rooms.
Assist in patient procedural preparation and discharge including but not limited to:
- Monitoring the sub-waiting area and stretcher holding area for patients arriving for their procedure
- Facilitate efficient workflow in the area by ensuring patient are in queue and prepared for their imaging
- Provide instructions for exam preparation if required
- Act as a liaison with patients in sub-waiting area and keep patient informed when of procedural wait time
- Escort patients to other modalities in Diagnostic Imaging for additional procedures
Supply inventory & Work Area Preparation (Imaging Rooms Subwaiting Prep rooms):
- Check and ensure that there are adequate supplies in each area including linen bags garbage bags and glove boxes etc.
- Check procedure rooms prep rooms and subwaiting to ensure that necessary equipment is available.
- Ensure that phlebotomy carts in the prep rooms are stocked and organized at start of day and throughout the day
- Prepare patient record including requisitions protocol sheets and any other procedural paperwork and correlate with technologist/sonographer working in the area
- Porter any patient records throughout the department as requested
- Complete cleaning of prep and procedural room in-between patients
- Post procedural transport used procedure carts to soiled utility room and take apart disinfect and prepare for next use
- Monitor prepare and complete reprocessing cycle for transducers
Qualifications :
Halton Healthcare is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- High School Diploma required
- Three (3) months of relevant experience required
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
- Previous hospital experience within a Diagnostic Imaging Department preferred
- Demonstrates being patient focused
- Aptitude for working with delicate and heavy equipment
- Knowledge of Meditech is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Must be physically able to perform the required tasks involving repetitive pushing and pulling and extensive standing and walking.
- Demonstrated ability to make quick assessments to solve minor problems and establish priorities in a fast-paced demanding environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while also working effectively in a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 7.5 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $27.385 to $34.205 per hour
