The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the worlds busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Departments main goal is to provide fire protection emergency medical care and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. FDNY members are sworn to serve and protect life and property and the Department works to continually educate the public in fire life safety and disaster preparedness along with enforcing public safety codes. Since its inception in 1865 FDNY has helped lead efforts to make New York the safest big city in the nation. This accomplishment requires a steadfast and daily commitment to maintaining the Departments core values.

The Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full-time CERTIFIED IT ADMIN LAN/WAN in the Bureau of Technology Development. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director Server & Systems the successful candidate will: Administer maintain and support enterprise infrastructure systems in production environments
- Support VMware-based platforms including vSphere VDI and VxRail infrastructure
- Manage on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD (Entra ID) hybrid identity environments
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online Teams SharePoint and OneDrive
- Support Commvault enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations including monitoring restores and DR testing
- Administer Infoblox platforms for DNS DHCP and IP address management
- Monitor infrastructure health performance and availability using Zabbix vRealize Operations and related tools
- Perform system patching upgrades vulnerability remediation and security response activities
- Participate in disaster recovery planning documentation and execution of failover and recovery procedures

**Special Working Conditions: May be required to work shifts including nights Saturdays Sundays and holidays.

Qualifications :

Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be addition all candidates must have the following:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning design configuration installation implementation troubleshooting integration performance monitoring maintenance enhancement and security management; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in 1 or

3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in 1 above.

Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work as determined by the employing agency.
