Job Summary

Were looking for an Electric Utility Distribution Electrician/Lineman at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratorys Site 300 located in Tracy California. You will perform a variety of specialized journey-level electrical functions including maintenance operations installation repair replacement testing troubleshooting and commissioning activities on medium-voltage and high-voltage electric utility systems and equipment. This position is in the Electric Utility Division of the Infrastructure Maintenance & Utilities Department.  

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will 

  • Perform journey-level electrical work.
  • Perform maintenance switching operations installation repair replacement testing troubleshooting and commissioning work on overhead pole-lines transformers switches and other electrical equipment used in the overhead distribution of electric power at the 15kV and 115kV voltage levels.
  • Work with other craft personnel and provide technical guidance.
  • Provide effective and timely customer service to clients and team members.
  • Prepare and deliver reports; fill out preventative maintenance requests deficiency reports and work orders using a personal computer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • High school diploma GED or equivalent; completion of apprenticeship program in the electrician trade or equivalent experience.
  • Basic journey-level skills knowledge and abilities in the electrician trade including proficiency in the use of all tools of the trade including operating and working from a utility-type high-reach bucket truck and digger-derrick. 
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain operate install repair replace test troubleshoot and commission transformers switches conductors power-poles and associated pole-mounted equipment and hardware used in the overhead distribution of electric power at the 15kV and 115kV voltage levels.
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively in writing and verbally with technical administrative and management personnel.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computers and associated software to prepare logs and reports send and receive e-mails perform computer-based training and timekeeping entry.
  • Ability to work scheduled on-call and emergency overtime.
  • Valid California Class C Drivers License required.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience in substation maintenance and operations.
  • Experience reading electrical diagrams testing protective relays and working from drawings.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and OSHA safety regulations.

Pay Range
$53.01 - $64.43 Hourly
This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement and step structure.  Step placement will be determined after your qualifications are fully assessed during the interview process.
