About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Consultant Dermatologist with broad experience in general dermatology who is interested in joining our team in a permanent part-time capacity.

The service provides both outpatient and inpatient dermatology and offers a full range of services on-site including Mohsmicrographic surgery patch testing and phototherapy.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Inpatient and outpatient medical dermatology
  • Dermatological research and quality assurance
  • Teach and supervision of trainee registrars and other junior medical staff will be included
  • Opportunities to develop a subspecialty service may be available to suitable candidates.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Gisborne Hospital is the base hospital for the wide geographical area Tairāwhiti extending up the East Cape of New Zealand creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic and skilled Dermatologist. Providing healthcare to a population of 50000 Tairāwhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive medical and surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner.

About you
To be part of our team you will possess the following:

  • Applicants must either be vocationally registered or be eligible for vocational or temporary registration as provided by the Medical Council of New Zealand. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a current vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in management of a variety of dermatology conditions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop partnerships and work collaboratively within a team
  • Competency with te ao Māori tikanga and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth. Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
