General Summary
Under the general supervision assists in managing the daily operations and activities of EMS staff at assigned locations. Oversees the successful delivery of quality patient care service excellence and patient experience. Provides direct individualized patient care at an experienced Paramedic level as required.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Assist in maintaining established policies and procedures per agency and state regulations.
- Ensures that appropriate standards of care are developed and implemented based on Pennsylvania protocols and evidence-based research.
- Uses outcome driven data to drive and improve care.
- Analyzes Patient Experience data to identify areas for improvement and works within the unit manager to reach targets.
- Facilitates and supports safe quality care by providing exemplary direct patient care.
- Actively assists in the performance appraisal process. Provides feedback and coaching to improve performance promote accountability and support the healthy work environment. Uses Just Culture to resolve any performance issues or patient care concerns.
- Partners with the Manager and unit-based committees to ensure appropriate orientation competency and ability of all staff to provide safe competent care.
- Ensures the care provided is consistent with the mission and goals of the system meeting or exceeding quality outcomes and regulatory and financial goals.
- Responds to EMS calls observes safety policies and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
- Prepares hangs monitors and discontinues I.V. fluids.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
- Responds to emergency calls as a single Advanced Life Support Provider

- Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and error proof systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

QualificationsQualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
- 5 years In busy 911 system. Required
Licenses:
- Certified Paramedic Upon Hire Required or
- Certified Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- Ped Adv Life Support Upon Hire Required
Drivers License Statement:
Must possess a valid drivers license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
Courses and Training:
- Medical Command Authorization Upon Hire Required and
- Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) Upon Hire Required and
- National Incident Management System (NIMS)Hazardous Materials Awareness Upon Hire Required and
- Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operations (EMSVO) Upon Hire Required
