This is a temporary position and no leave or retirement benefits are offered. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 307 Ashe Ave Raleigh NC 27606 - Wake County with the Department of Health and Human Services.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This position locates and provides information and services to potentially eligible eligible and underserved children and families with VIB ages 14-21 years of age according to the definitions given in the WIOA/PETS legislation. Employee will work with DSB VR Staff in the implementation and service delivery of pre-employment transition services to qualifying students with visual impairments blindness or deaf blindness

Effective July 1 2025 candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Management Preferences:

  • Basic knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment.
  • Working knowledge of basic social work principles techniques and practices and their application to specific casework group work and community problems.
  • Working knowledge of governmental non-profit and private organizations and resources in the community.
  • Skill in motivational interviewing. Skill in record keeping.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and their families care providers staff and various community organizations.
  • Ability to plan and execute work assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and/or volunteers.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in a discipline relative to the program served from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in an area related to program that provides experience in techniques of casework or counseling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
