The Configuration Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the integrity accuracy and control of organizational configuration items (CIs) across IT systems infrastructure and enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities
- Develop implement and maintain configuration management policies procedures and standards
- Establish and manage configuration baselines for IT systems infrastructure and applications
- Maintain an accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
- Ensure proper identification control and tracking of configuration items across the enterprise
- Oversee configuration audits and verification activities to ensure data integrity
- Collaborate with change management release management and incident management teams
- Evaluate and approve configuration changes in alignment with governance frameworks
- Support IT operations by ensuring accurate configuration data for troubleshooting and impact analysis
- Integrate configuration management practices with IT service management processes
- Utilize enterprise tools such as ServiceNow or similar systems to manage CMDB and workflows
- Develop reporting and dashboards for configuration status compliance and metrics
- Identify process improvements to enhance configuration accuracy and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with internal policies security standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Information Systems or a related field required
Experience
- 4 to 8 years of experience in configuration management IT operations systems administration or IT service management
- Experience working with enterprise CMDB environments and ITIL-aligned processes preferred
